Frequently asked questions
Savory Keto Snacks
These are the ones I make most often. They are delicious, each and every one of them, and I do find that they are more satiating than sweet ones.
1. Parmesan crisps
I make these a lot. They are so wonderfully crispy and flavorful. They are made with just cheese (sometimes I add pepperoni or a jalapeno slice in the middle), and without wheat flour diluting their flavor, they truly are better than high-carb cheese crackers.
2. Keto beef jerky
This one requires a bit more work - slicing the beef thinly and then baking it in a low-temperature oven for a few hours. But they are so good! Their seasoning is phenomenal. They make a wonderful addition to your lunchbox.
3. Avocado fries
The first time I made these, I was amazed at how well they turned out. Baked avocado becomes wonderfully creamy and flavorful, and the spicy dip adds so much flavor. It’s one of my favorite recipes to make when I have avocadoes that are just right - not too hard and not too ripe.
4. Homemade pork rinds
You can absolutely buy pork rinds (as long as they contain just pork skin and salt). But making your own is actually fun, and the result is very different than the commercial stuff - it’s crispier and fattier and not as puffy and dry. I also find it much more flavorful.
5. Keto soft pretzels
It’s unbelievable how good these pretzels are. Fathead dough truly is a miracle dough. Eat them on their own, or dip them in some grainy mustard. So good!
6. Cocktail meatballs
These juicy little meatballs are so much fun to snack on! I sometimes just grab the cold leftovers and eat them straight from the fridge. The sauce is really good - although I like them without it too.
7. Bacon chips
If you like crispy bacon, you will love this very flavorful and easy-to-make snack. These tasty chips are extra good when dipped in guacamole.
8. Grilled halloumi
It’s the magic cheese that you can grill! And it’s so very flavorful, in a delightfully salty sort of way. Enjoy it on its own, or with keto bread.
9. Zucchini chips
Thinly sliced zucchini, coated in olive oil and parmesan and baked until crispy - what’s not to like? It’s always good to find tasty low-carb finger foods that are vegetable-based.
10. Hot pizza dip
Who needs a crust when you can simply melt together the best parts of pizza (the cheese and the toppings, of course), then scoop it all up with crispy fresh-cut vegetables?
11. Cheese muffins
These flavorful savory muffins are super good. The combination of almond flour, cheeses, garlic and cayenne is phenomenal. They’re great on their own and even better with some Kerrygold butter.
12. Scotch eggs
This is such an amazing recipe. How much fun is it, to bite into a well-seasoned meatball, and find a hard-boiled egg in the middle! Plus it’s super satiating, as you can imagine.
13. Almond flour crackers
These amazed me the first time I made them because they are so very close to the real thing. And in fact, in a way they are even better because almond flour tastes better than wheat flour.
14. Eggplant chips
If you like eggplants, you will love these crispy and flavorful eggplant chips. They are very tasty on their own or try dipping them in some Greek yogurt dip or in tahini sauce.
15. Deviled eggs
It’s a classic appetizer or snack, and how lucky for us, it’s legit keto! I make this particular version with full-fat Greek yogurt, but you can use sour cream or mayonnaise instead.
16. Stuffed mini peppers
Mini peppers are amazing. I love them raw - they’re so delicious. But roasting them in the oven definitely improves them, and stuffing them with well-seasoned goat cheese - well, that’s just keto nirvana!
17. Spinach artichoke dip
I wasn’t sure I wanted to publish this recipe - this dip is not much to look at! But the amazing creaminess and flavor convinced me that I do want to share it with you. I love scooping it up with mini peppers!
18. Sausage egg muffins
My daughter, a budding chef, loves making these with me. It’s so much fun to create the sausage cups, break an egg into them, then watch the magic happen in the oven!
19. Jalapeno poppers
These are AMAZING. The combination of the spicy jalapenos, the creamy cheese and the bacon is just so good! They ARE spicy, though, so only serve them to someone who enjoys spicy food.
20. Roasted nuts
Coated in butter, sugar-free honey or maple syrup and a sprinkle of smoked paprika (yes!) and roasted in the oven, these crunchy and salty-sweet roasted nuts are superb.
21. Savory cheese balls
You’ll have so much fun making these! And the combination of various cheeses and spices is so good. I also like that you can make them in advance and keep them in the fridge until ready to serve.
22. Kale chips
Roasting in olive oil and salt removes the bitterness from the kale, and the texture also greatly improves. These have become one of my favorite snacks!
23. Keto nachos
Yes, you can have nachos on the keto diet! Simply replace the tortillas with pork rinds. How simple is that! And so delicious.
24. Salami chips
The intense flavor of salami combined with wonderful crunchiness, then dipped into a creamy sour cream dip… yup, these are as good as they sound!
25. Skillet pizza
This is just genius (if I do have to say so myself): Cook just the cheese and toppings in a skillet for a wonderfully crispy skinny-crust pizza, hold the dough!
26. Cheesy garlic bread
This delicious garlic bread is made with almond flour. Cheesy, buttery and garlicky, I don’t make it very often, because I tend to lose control around it. 😳
27. Ham and egg cups
These cute little cups are so easy to make, and they make a great portable snack. I like to make them in advance, then eat them cold, straight out of the fridge! But you can obviously reheat them in the microwave if you prefer them warm.
28. Cheese biscuits
Made with almond flour, sour cream and parmesan, these savory cheese biscuits are wonderful all on their own, and even better with rich European salted butter.
Sweet keto snacks
As much as I prefer to focus on savory items, sometimes you crave something sweet. And when you do, these provide you with some good options.
29. Chocolate chip cookies
As a kid, were you given chocolate chip cookies and milk for your after-school snack? Many of us would not touch the stuff today. But these wonderfully chewy keto chocolate chip cookies are something my husband and I can actually enjoy, and we often do.
30. Cheesecake-stuffed strawberries
These are wonderful to serve to guests. Everyone always raves about them! They are so pretty. My kids love helping me make them, but when I do enlist their help we have to make extra, because they keep sampling them while we work. 😄
31. Chocolate yogurt
This is one of my favorite afternoon indulgences, although sometimes it serves as my after-dinner treat. It’s very easy to make and it’s surprisingly creamy and delicious. The secret is using full-fat Greek yogurt and high-quality cocoa powder.
32. Peanut butter bars
Walking a fine line between “snack” and “dessert,” nonetheless I sometimes enjoy one of these as a very nice afternoon pick-me-up.
33. Chocolate-covered raspberries
These are AMAZING. I don’t know about you, but I just love the combination of fruit and chocolate. Made with dark chocolate and fresh raspberries, I do consider these tasty little morsels appropriate as an occasional snack.
34. Keto cookie dough
I can’t believe how good this cookie dough is. Or maybe I can - after all, it’s made with almond flour, and almonds are very tasty! These are really good with a cup of coffee or (if you drink it) with unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
35. Blueberry muffins
These tasty muffins are perfect not just for breakfast but also as a tasty and filling mid-morning or afternoon pick-me-up. They are made with almond flour and sweetened with a sugar-free sweetener, and they are wonderfully fluffy.
36. Coconut clusters
Made with just dark chocolate, coconut oil and coconut flakes, these coconut clusters are perfect for a quick and delicious snack. The original pre-keto version was made with cornflakes - these are actually better!
37. Cheesecake bites
You can think of them as a sort of fat bomb, only they taste like cheesecake. 😋 I love how easy they are to make, and since you can make them in advance, you can keep them in the fridge and just grab one when you need a quick pick-me-up.
38. Keto truffles
Another type of fat bomb, these are wonderfully rich, creamy and chocolaty. A couple of these with a cup of black coffee is keto perfection!
39. Peanut butter cups
If you love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and you’re on the keto diet, I think you will really appreciate these deeply chocolaty peanut butter cups. They are more “rich” than “sweet,” which makes them perfect for a snack.
40. Peanut butter cookies
Made with just four ingredients, these cookies are incredibly good. They are sweet but not too sweet, tasty, soft, and chewy. 👩🏻🍳 I typically publish a new or an updated recipe once a week. Want these recipes in your inbox? Subscribe! You can unsubscribe at any time.
