This is the best-baked bean casserole with sausage recipe you will ever find online. Bold statement but it is the fact, this recipe is easy, not complicated and all the ingredients are pantry staples. Well, except for the sausages that you may have to go out to buy. By the way, Heinz is not the only brand of baked beans around, most grocery stores have their own brand which is cheaper. Do check it out for a smart swap. Also, if you are a fan of the sugar content in baked beans then substitute with the low sugar option.

Ingredients you will need

Pork sausages: I used unlinked Cumberland sausages as I like to keep it simple but you can use any types of pork sausages you desire. Baked beans Worcestershire sauce Salt and black pepper Onions Garlic Smoked paprika Olive oil Ingredient variations Bulk this sausage casserole with veggies such as mushrooms, peppers, Zucchini, and the likes. Add about 1 cup of water to the casserole to enable the veggies to cook properly.

How to make sausage and baked bean casserole

Heat up olive oil on medium-high heat in a casserole dish and carefully add the sausages. Brown the sausages all over until golden brown. Remove from the pan and transfer to a plate. Add chopped onions and garlic to the remaining oil in the pan and sauté until soft, fragrant and almost caramelised. Return the sausages to the pan, pour the baked beans all over it, add Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper and stir to combine. You can add about ½ cup of low sodium vegetable stock or water if you would be leaving the casserole to cook for longer than 15 minutes Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes on low heat. stir in chopped coriander, cilantro, or parsley. Note: high heat would burn the casserole so do keep an eye. Remove from the heat and serve.

What to serve this recipe with

We love to serve our sausage casserole with ciabatta, air fryer baked potatoes, instant pot baked potatoes, garlic bread, or pesto garlic bread. That said it can be served on its own, you can also serve it burger bun or hamburger. Mashed potato is a great option too

How to store

Honestly, I will be surprised if you had any leftovers from this dish. However, if you did, then make sure it cooled completely, transfer it to an airtight container, and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. It does taste better the next day, it is sticky and sweet, perfect for a burger filling. To reheat: simply reheat in the microwave for a few seconds or minutes.
